MASTER OF HEALTH ADMINISTRATION DEGREE

PROFESSIONAL FORMAT PROGRAM

he Dynamic Field of Health Administration is interdisciplinary, focusing on the management and delivery of public and private health care services. Health care management has become more challenging with increasingly diverse and older populations, new technologies, and higher costs. This dynamic health care environment presents many challenges to health care administrators such as competition for scarce resources, culturally diverse workforces, and the ongoing integration of health care systems.

The need for health care managers has increased dramatically. Excellent and growing career opportunities are expected in the foreseeable future in all health care settings, including, hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, insurance organizations, and governments.

A successful health care manager must be able to understand and manage:

  1. The rapidly changing political, social, and economic environment;

  2. Limited financial resources and changes in reimbursement;

  3. Culturally and ethnically diverse workforces;

  4. Aggressive competition; and

  5. Organizational changes with increased diversification and integration.

The MHA degree prepares professionals for career advancement, gaining new information and skills in health care management, and prepares students for mid- to upper-level management positions in virtually any health care setting.
