PROGRAM DETAILS

  1. Students who enter this dual degree program must:
    A. Be admitted to the JD program in the School of Law and
    B. Be admitted to the MHA program in the Arnold School of Public Health, Department of Health Services Policy and Management (A and B above indicate that any student admitted to this dual degree program meet all entrance requirements of each school and be accepted as a student therein.)
    C. Be admitted to the Dual Degree Program. Admission to the dual degree program must be made by application to both programs and both programs must approve the student's admission to the dual degree program. Each degree program shall maintain appropriate academic records on each student in the dual degree program.

  2. The dual degree program is prospective in its operation.
    A. Any student holding the JD or MHA degree will not be eligible for admission to the dual degree program.
    B. Students currently enrolled in either school may enter the program and apply for appropriate credit granted by both schools with due care exercised to effect the transition to insure the closest compliance with these regulations as the individual problem of each student permits.

  3. The entire dual degree program for both degrees should be completed within a maximum period of four academic years unless substantial reasons acceptable to the Dual Committee (see below) are given. In such event, each case will be judged on its individual merits and decisions in the case of other students will not serve as precedent. MHA course work commences in the first Summer Session following the first Fall and Spring semesters in the School of Law. In year 2 the Fall, Spring, and Summer Sessions are devoted to MHA courses. In year 3 the Fall and Spring are primarily JD courses with 12 hours during that period devoted to MHA course taught in the School of Public Health. The Summer Session of Year 3 is devoted to the MHA Administrative Residency requirement. Year 4 is devoted to the completion of JD coursework.

  4. Any student enrolled in the dual degree program must meet the currently applicable academic requirements in order to remain in the dual degree program.
    A. All Graduate School, School of Law, and School of Public Health academic requirements are applicable to students enrolled in the dual degree program.
    B. Failure to meet the requisite academic standing requirements of either school will preclude the student's continuation in the dual degree program in the semester he/she becomes ineligible. In this event, the student enrolled in the dual degree program may continue to complete the degree requirements in the school whose academic standing he/she has met.
    C. Any student enrolled in the dual degree program who is removed from the program for academic deficiency may not re-enter the dual degree program.
